Henry S. Kaiser (1890-1949), born in Seneca, Kansas, came to Alaska in 1912 as a soldier in the U.S. Signal Corps. He was a telegraph and wireless operator, lineman, and electrician, and installed many of the early Alaskan wireless stations. He eventually settled in Nenana, Alaska, where he owned the local power plant. First elected mayor of Nenana in 1937, he served several terms in that position. Henry S. Kaiser, Jr. (b. 1932), was raised in Nenana, Alaska. He graduated from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, in 1961 with a degree in education and went on to a career in teaching and work for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Alaska. While a college student in Fairbanks, he documented campus activities as a photographer on the yearbook staff.
